Our Goals

  1. Improve Student Success

  2. Broad Review of Academic Affairs

WVU Tech will accomplish these two broad goals through four initiatives targeted at examining programs, building upon success, streamlining where necessary, increasing program flexibility and diversifying offerings to improve student success and retention.

Our four initatives

A full Board of Governors program review of all WVU Tech's academic programs with a focus to improve student success (as measured by retention, persistence, and degree completion). These reviews will look at enrollment and completion trends, faculty staffing and productivity trends, high DFW courses, and curricular flexibility as measured by general electives in the curriculum.

This committee will work to expand the marketing and recruitment reach of WVU Tech's Regent's Bachelor of Arts program. It will also explore ways to deliver more upper division online courses to RBA students increasing their ability to complete the degree.

This committee will investigate how to increase the offering of upper division course offerings at WVU Tech as well as how to increase WVU Tech student access to upper division online courses offered elsewhere within the WVU system. It will also investigate WVU Tech's capacity for delivering online upper division courses that could serve WVU Morgantown students and what the financial benefit of that practice would be under the new revenue model. For those courses to be delivered by WVU Tech faculty, it will prioritize courses to be offered and identify a development schedule for those courses.

This committee is exploring how WVU Tech's promotion and tenure document could be amended within the university guidelines to provide more focus on and reward for service activity. As part of that review, it may develop a new definition of "service" if appropriate and it will also review the definitions and expectations for reaching and research as relevant to the WVU Tech mission.
